Our History
PACS Medical Clinic was a place where volunteer primary care providers ministered to the needs of uninsured and low-income clients from 1993 until 2017. Influenced by many factors, health care delivery models changed through the years, but the healthcare team at PACS Medical Clinic continued to reach out to a wide variety of Portland clients.
Many positive outcomes resulted in stories of early cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and infectious disease detection, referral, and treatment. The PACS Medical Clinic became connected to the local community and was a member of the Coalition of Community Health Clinics (CCHC), a group of clinics dedicated to serving the health needs of the Portland Metro neighborhoods.
In 2017 the PACS Medical Clinic closed since the need for primary care services was no longer as severe. Plans were began almost immediately to create the Gateway Grace Dental Clinic to provide dental care, and before long PACS was able to raise enough money to purchase and renovate a building right next to our store. After a flurry of preparation, Gateway Grace was opened in 2019 and began seeing patients.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced Gateway Grace Dental Clinic to close for about a year in 2020-2021, but we took that opportunity to build a detailed operating plan and numerous community partnerships with other dental organizations in the Portland area. Now we're back, and more prepared than ever to provide high quality preventative dental care to our clients!
