REMEMBERING IRIS STANLEY

POSTED ON JANUARY 27, 2017

UPDATED FEBRUARY 3, 2017

UPDATE, 2/3/2017: PACS will hold a special memorial services for Iris in the PACS Thrift Store (apparel department) on Thursday, February 9 at 1:15 p.m. (11020 NE Halsey St, Portland).

We are sad to report that yesterday we lost our dear friend and beloved staff member, Iris Stanley. At 88, Iris was PACS' eldest and longest-standing active employee when she passed away, having worked at PACS for nearly 16 years. She loved making a difference in peoples lives, especially the staff and volunteers at PACS, many of whom were deeply impacted by her friendship and support. Iris didn't like being at home alone. Even as heart ailments began to take their toll, she preferred to come to work and be around people. She worked all the way up through just over a week ago (Thursday, January 19). She continued to faithfully answer phones, help in the office support, provide legendary proof-reading skills, and the incredible gift of friendship to anyone and everyone who came through the door.

PACS will not be the same without Iris, and she is already sorely missed, but we look forward to seeing her again in heaven. May that day be soon!
