April 21, 2017

Prior to 2001, Bill had always held down a job, but he suffered a mental health crisis after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The result found him increasingly isolated, and struggling to get his life back on track. Check out PACS' latest blog post to learn how Bill got involved at the organization, and how the experience proved transformational for him.

THRIFT FRIDAY HOURS EXTENDED FOR SUMMER

MARCH 14, 2017

If you like to run errands on Friday afternoon, you can now include the PACS Thrift Store. It closes early (2:30 p.m.) on Friday during the winter for Adventists' observation of the 7th-day Sabbath, which starts at sundown on Friday. However, now that Daylight Savings Time has kicked in, sundown is later, so the Thrift Store will remain open until 5 p.m. on Fridays until the time changes back to Standard Time.

NEXT STORY (03/09/17): $75K BOOST TO HEALTH CENTER

Excavation for Health Center Addition

The Portland Development Commision has granted $75,000 to help renovate the new Health Center facility.

PDC GRANT BOOSTS HEALTH CENTER

MARCH 9, 2017

The Portland Development Commission (PDC) has approved a $100,000 grant for facilities improvements at PACS. This includes $75,000 towards renovations of the new Health Center facility, which will expand medical care, and add dental and ophthalmology. The other $25,000 will be used to make renovations to reduce crowding and improve access in the PACS Food Pantry. This will be done when the existing Health Clinic vacates its current space, freeing up room for pantry improvements. PACS received these PDC funds via the city of Portland's urban renewal efforts in the Gateway area and the Halsey-Weidler business corridor.

PACS now has just under $75,000 left to raise towards this effort. If you would like to help us reach that goal you can donate online here. Be sure to choose "Health/Dental Startup" under the "Fund" item on the donation form. You can also mail donations to 11020 NE Halsey St, Portland OR 97220. Be sure to designate your gift to "Health Center Startup".
