Community Service Training
Off-Site and Webinar Training Workshops
PACS offers Community Service training workshops to help you build sustainable programs. We offer customized training workshops to community groups and faith-based communities to help build an understanding poverty, hunger, health disparities and how to develop faith-based approaches to community service. Our approach builds on a model of dignity, empowerment, and five circles of Christian compassion (see here). Workshops can be designed to fit your needs and range from a half-day to a two-day training workshop. We offer the following workshops:
• The biblical basis for compassion ministries
• Understanding and responding to poverty
• Strategic planning and business planning for community-based compassion ministries
• Planning a compassion ministry within your church
We also can arrange to conduct training workshops in a webinar format. Contact us for more details.
On-Site Training Workshops
We also host a one-day action-training workshop to small groups on the PACS campus, This experience allows participants to engage in an immersive case study of our grocery model Food Pantry and/or Thrift Stores.
For SDA churches in the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, we provide our workshops for free. Donations to support our ministry are encouraged but not required. PACS can also serve as a keynote or conference speaker or as a guest speaker for a worship service or evening worship program.
For faith communities and other community groups not affiliated with the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, our training workshops and public speaking engagements are available at a modest fee-for-service. The fees underwrite staff time and travel expenses and also helps to keep PACS a thriving community service.
Contact Charlie Brown, Interim Executive Director, at (503) 252-8500 ext.113 for information about our training and public speaking services or submit an online request here.
